Fallen Angels @ CHFF Friday October 5th

Fallen Angels

Playing at the Chicago Horror Film Festival
October 5th - 8:30 p.m.

Warner Falls for "Angels"

Warner Bros., thru its Polychrome Pictures division, has acquired the domestic distribution rights to the demon haunted penitentiary film FALLEN ANGELS. The acclaimed horror thriller will begin possessing theatres in a limited theatrical release beginning October 5th and will be stalking onto DVD November 13th.

Boasting the first ever iconoclastic line-up of cult actors, the film stars Star Trek: The Next Generation's Michael Dorn, Bill Moseley of the Devil's Rejects and Rob Zombie's Halloween, Playboy cover girl and reality TV star Adrianne Curry in her feature debut, Kane Hodder of the Friday the 13th series, Michael Berryman of the Hills Have Eyes, Academy Award nominee Kevin McCarthy, WWE Diva and Playboy cover girl Christie Hemme, Last House on the Left's David Hess, Christopher Knight of the Brady Bunch and My Fair Brady, Golden Globe winner Ruth Buzzi, R.A. Mihailoff of Leatherface: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3, Phantasm's Reggie Bannister, and Martin Kove of the Karate Kid.

In the award winning film, the demolition of a turn of the century prison grinds to a halt when a 100 year old crime scene is discovered. Hidden deep underground is a chamber filled with the remains of several brutally slain children. As a CSI team arrives at the prison, an even more disturbing discovery is made that will eventually unveil a legion of seven demons and their even more chilling origins: each demon is responsible for one of the seven deadly sins. Seven deadly sins...Seven deadly demons...Seven more deadly ways to die...

The chilling special effects were brought to life by veteran Bob Keen of Return of the Jedi, Blade, Highlander, and Dog Soldiers. Having created the demon "Pinhead" and the rest of the demons for the Hellraiser series, FALLEN ANGELS showcases Keen's finest menagerie of mayhem yet as he unveils seven new demons and several viscerally charged, cringe worthy death scenes.

Told at a breathtaking pace, FALLEN ANGELS is both a visceral horror film and a moving CSI mystery that appeals to multiple demographics. The film has already been an official selection at Screamfest, California Independent Film Festival, HorrorFest UK, Fantastic Festival of Films UK, Indy Horror Film Festival, and the Chicago Horror Film Festival.

Written and directed by Jeff Thomas and produced by Leonard Pirkle, Derek Zemrak, Robert Rowland, and Myron St. John, the FALLEN ANGELS special edition DVD will include the featurettes: Cult Icons: The Cast of Fallen Angels, Behind the Bars: The Making of Fallen Angels, Seven Deadly Demons: The Special Effects of Fallen Angels, and Haunted Prison: The Set of Fallen Angels, director's commentary, trailer gallery, and behind the scenes still gallery.

Chicago Horror Fest meets Chicago Horror!

As many have already realized as you have visited our site today, that Chicago Horror.com and Chicagohorrorfest.com are merging to integrate the two websites together. While both organizations are both their own separate entities, we have brought the two sites together. It should also be said that there are going to be many road bumps along the way as we get the two sites integrated.

For the Horror Festival, Jason R. Davis is still the festival director, Erin Davis is still the Coordinator, and K. L. Kenzie is still the Staffing director, and we are the three organizers still in charge. Chad Savage is still in charge of Chicago Horror.com.

We are also glad to announce that Chad Savage has come on board as a judge for the Chicago Horror Film Festival. This helps to prove once again, that this year's festival is going to be our most amazing festival to date.

We look forward to scaring you soon, as October is quickly coming upon us.

February-April Production Updates

February 23-25- The Chicago Horror Festival had a table at Fangoria. We sold T- shirts, had fliers for the upcoming festival and a sign up sheet for the website in which we collected over 300 signatures. I spoke with Doug Bradley, Bill Moseley and Ken Foree about the festival. I'm sure that they would not be able to make it to this year's installment, but they did show a genuine interest and it's just nice to know that they are aware CHFF.

All in all, it was a great networking opportunity. We were able to spread the word about the festival to an audience who may have only heard about it in rumor or passing. People seemed really interested in what we have to do and say in the horror community. I see this year's festival being the biggest yet.

April 9-22- I was an assistant DP on the feature length DV film horror film "Hag"

It was two weeks of the longest days, some even extending to 16 hours. However it ended up being more than worth it. While on set I learned more about using lighting, gels,-white balancing to different colors for effect is my new favorite thing. This was also the first time that I worked and actually shot green screen. I networked with other industry people and made friends with some pretty talented people.

Also, as mentioned before, I will be receiving my IMDB listing from this project, not to mention I was paid pretty well for my shooting work.

The film "Hag" is currently in post production. I'm excited; this is the director Mark Vadik's second film. His first film "The Thirsting" has an overseas DVD release along with a theatrical release in Japan. There is also some talk of this not being the last project of Mark's that I will be on crew for. I could more than used to making a feature length film once every couple of months.

April 27-29- My first free weekend after the "Hag" shoot. Instead of resting like anyone else would have done, I accepted the role of DP for the 48th hour Film Project.

Friday our team "McDonalds Delivers", headed by Jill Trembczynski , received our genera,(romance) prop (a plastic box )and the line of dialog, ("I declare") all 3 elements that have to be used in our seven minute short film.

After a stressful night we got our actors, I captured footage at both Wrigley Field and JBTV, and then our piece was edited last minute by an editor we did not know or meet until that evening. We turned in our short in before the time it was due. One week later it was screened at The Landmark Century.

Now I can go on about the mistakes that I made with lighting and what I would have done differently. Instead, I would just rather thank everyone who was involved in the project.

Jill Trembczynski our writer and the one who brought us all together with this project.

Our actors and actress: Trey Chambers, Josh Breit, Kieth Burman and Salome- who were informed Friday night that we wanted then to act in our short in 12 hours and for no pay. Not one complained, and their ultra talented selves kept my number of takes to an absolute minimum

Brice Habeger our ultra last minute editor who was referred to us via phone and who came out to help us, a couple of kids he didn't even know.

JBTV who allowed me to use the camera equipment that I needed.

Gary Amerine who allowed us to use his computer to edit.

And last but definitely not least, Adam Trembczynski. Without his organizational and secretarial skills this project would have been at a lost. It's also nice to make a short with one of your bestest friend.

"Holy Cow" should hopefully make it's internet debt via YouTube within the next few weeks.

Editor and Others Needed~ Chicago 48 Hour Film Project this Weekend

I’m participating in the Chicago 48 Hour Film Project
and I’m looking for a little help. Basically, the 48
Hour Film Project is a competition in which teams of
filmmakers write, shoot and edit a short film over the
course of a weekend, which happens to be this weekend.
The finished films are going to be shown at the
Landmark Century Cinema on May 3rd.

We’re looking for a local (Chicagoland) video editor
experienced with Adobe Premier Pro 7 to edit a four to
seven minute short film. However, if you have your
own editing equipment and would be willing to edit our
short film, that would be a huge help. NOTE: We’ll
probably be standing over your shoulder and/or pacing
the floor while you edit. Due to the restrictions of
the competition, we can’t financially compensate
people for their help, but you will get a credit on a
film that will play theatrically and a great big thank
you from the rest of the filmmaking team! And maybe
pizza and beer; although you can’t have beer until the
editing is done.

Now for the bad news: This film project lasts a mere
48 hours. This includes finding out what genre of
film we’re making, writing the script, supplying props
and wardrobe, shooting the film, and editing it all
together. So basically we have from 7 PM Friday,
April 27th until 7 PM Sunday, April 29th to complete
the whole thing. This means, in all likelihood, that
all aspects of editing will take place between
Saturday night and early Sunday evening. We HAVE to
have our finished product submitted by 7 PM Sunday, so
obviously we’d need it done earlier. So if you aren’t
1000% sure that you can do this, please don’t offer.
We’re looking for a fast editor with nerves of steel.

If you aren’t an editor but you still want to help,
let me know. We aren’t exactly sure what the hell
we’re doing with this thing, so we might need actors,
lighting equipment, props, interior locations and who
knows what else. I’ll post all the details Friday
evening (once we know what genre we got stuck with)
and if anybody has anything they want to contribute,
it would be a gigantic help. Again, please don’t
offer to help unless you’re absolutely positive that
you’ll have the time to commit to this crazy project.

I'm looking forward to working with some local
Chicagoland filmmaking talent!

Chicago Horror Film Festival Update

We have just received word that Robert Z'dar will be a guest at our upcoming festival and will be participating in our Panel Discussion. Robert Z'dar, most noticed and known for his work with Slyvestor Stallone and Kurt Russell in the film Tango and Cash and his work with Bruce Campbell in the Maniac Cop series, will be attending the festival as well as participating in our Panel Discussion on Saturday. He will participate with other filmmakers as they discuss what got them into horror films, and why those chose to become apart of the most snubbed genre in film.

We will also not only be having 1 after party on Saturday night at Exit, but a 2nd after party at Delilah's on Sunday night. Dj'd by the Horror DJ!

Is this going to be one hell of a festival or what!!!

So is everyone ready for one long nearly non-stop weekend of horror?
